Double the ingredient, not the whole meal
Double protein means a modeled second serving of the selected protein ingredient. It does not double the rice, beans, tortilla or toppings. Our controls multiply only the chosen record, while the remaining ingredients stay at their selected quantities.
For chicken, the extra published 4 oz serving adds 180 calories, 32 g protein, 7 g fat, 3 g saturated fat and 310 mg sodium. For steak, the extra 4 oz adds 150 calories, 21 g protein, 6 g fat, 2.5 g saturated fat and 330 mg sodium.
A full-meal example
The default chicken bowl in this calculator totals 660 calories and 50 g protein. Changing only the chicken from standard to double creates an estimated 840-calorie meal with 82 g protein. The difference is the extra chicken; the rice, beans, salsa, cheese and lettuce are unchanged.
These totals are computed from the same records as the live calculator. The portions are reference amounts, so the arithmetic can be correct while the meal you receive differs from the estimate. A second scoop is not a lab measurement.
Other ingredients contribute protein
Black beans list 8 g protein per 4 oz, white rice lists 4 g per 4 oz and cheese lists 6 g per 1 oz. Those contributions are included in the full meal total. Protein, carbohydrate and fat can coexist in the same ingredient.
Sofritas lists 8 g protein, 9 g carbohydrate and 10 g fat per 4 oz. It is a plant-based option with a different profile from chicken. Comparing equal servings makes those differences visible without implying that one number alone determines the quality of a meal.
Use the tool for your own question
Save the single-portion version, duplicate it, then change the protein portion. Add both to the comparison tray to see absolute totals and differences. The tray supports up to three meals so you can also compare a third option without losing the original.
There is no personalized protein target in this calculator. Needs vary, and the tool does not recommend a restrictive diet or promise a physical outcome. It helps you understand the nutrition implications of a selection using transparent assumptions.
Use the same documented ingredients in your own meal.
Put the example to work: open the meal builder, browse ingredient nutrition or compare published portions.
